Waimea Consort 2001 Christmas Concert 

The Waimea Consort, an a cappella vocal ensemble of 12 singers, has been organized in January 1999 to bring rarely heard vocal music to the Big Island. Concerts in Waimea, Hilo and Honolulu allowed many to discover medieval, baroque, and 20th century a cappella music. Its last concert was in Waimea in October and attracted more than 120 people for a very well received performance. 
 

The Consort will share Christmas vocal music with the community on 
Sunday, December 16, at 7 p.m.
at the Davies Memorial Chapel on the Hawaii Preparatory campus in Waimea.
The first part of the Concert will present music related to Christmas by composers such as Dufay, Praetorius, Byrd, Morales, Sweelink, Bach and Mendelssohn. It will be an opportunity to cover five centuries of a cappella vocal music in Latin, Spanish, German and English. The second part of the concert will be a more traditional caroling session, bringing classic carols in a four-part polyphony.

If you love vocal music, if you want to listen to a wide range of polyphonic songs celebrating the Nativity and listen to traditional carols (and even sing along), come to the Christmas Concert of the Waimea Consort. You should not regret it, and it is even worth an up-hill drive to Waimea from either side of the Island...


Concert is free, and starts at 7 p.m. at HPA's upper campus chapel.
